Dr. James M. Maisel, (Doctor of Medicine) is the Founder and Chairman of ZyDoc and The Retina Group of New York, USA. He is a Board Certified ophthalmologist who completed his Dyson Fellowship in vitreous and retinal surgery at New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center, Residency in Ophthalmology at Nassau University Medical Center, Internship in Internal Medicine at Beth Israel Medical Center, Doctor of Medicine at New York Medical College, B.A. with Honors Chemistry at Kenyon College.
Dr. Maisel is Chairman of ZyDoc, a medical informatics and transcription company whose MediSapien software was ranked as one of the top five applications in The Data Design Diabetes Sanofi US Innovation Challenge. In addition, he has been a clinical investigator, consultant, educator, and advisory board member for Pfizer, Novartis, EyeTech, TopCon, Genentech, Alimera, Regeneron and Allergan. He has pioneered the development of several innovations in medical informatics including one of the first prototypes of an EHR in 1993 that was sold to the Department of Defense. He served as Chairman of Healthcare Open Systems and Trials (HOST) prior to its merger with HIMSS and participated in development of standards and requirements for the medical informatics industry. ZyDoc speech recognition medical specialty language models were licensed to Dragon Systems in 1999 and ZyDoc created one of the first digital transcription systems in 2003. Under his leadership, ZyDoc has won numerous awards from the medical informatics, speech recognition, computing, transcription, and pharmaceutical industry. ZyDoc released its TrackDoc Connect Cloud based transcription platform with smartphone dictation app that allows doctors to dictate anywhere and automatically insert section level EHR data and derive structured data for document improvement, ICD-10 coding and analytics.
Dr. Maisel was Honored as the 2017 Humanitarian of the Year by the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. He has served as a Corporate Advisory Board member for the Foundation of the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) and the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation Medical Advisory Board. He was also a member of the AAO Instrument and Device and Low Vision Committees and has received research grants from the U.S. Public Health Service and the National Institute of Health. Dr. Maisel represented the National Society to Prevent Blindness at the ANSI Z-80 committee where he helped establish many ophthalmic industry standards. He served as an editor of EyeCare Technology Magazine and Diabetes Technology Magazine, authored numerous professional journal articles, and lectures nationally on retina, medical informatics, and practice management topics.
Stan Esikoff, ZyDoc Chief Operating Officer, and Member of ZyDoc Board of Directors, is a technology and business executive with extensive experience in Financial Services and Medical Informatics. A graduate of Brown University, Stan has helped create and manage complex technology environments in both spheres, serving in executive management and consulting capacities. His significant hands-on experience in planning, developing and implementing applications and systems architectures has been put to use in support of bringing the MediSapien product to market, and in the ongoing development of enhancements and new downstream applications. Stan also helps to orchestrate the requisite business processes within ZyDoc.
Matt Bouchard, Chief Information Officer, is a database expert and project manager specializing in analyzing complex business problems and assessing how systems can be implemented to solve them. As product manager of MediSapien Knowledge Management Platform, he manages overall coordination of all related projects from planning through implementation. Serving as ZyDoc Project Manager/ Application Engineer since 2007, he has been responsible for managing various IT related projects including datacenter development, developing billing solutions, and architecting the MediSapien Knowledge Management Platform. He has assisted in the development and management of numerous healthcare projects including system design and development, datacenter design and implementation, and application enhancements for business needs in accordance with HIPAA and HITECH standards. He has designed, implemented, and managed virtualized server environments in both VMWare vSphere and Virtual Iron. He has designed, managed, and maintained multiple SQL Server and MySQL databases for production, development, and testing. Matt also architected a system to translate medical concepts to various medical terminologies and classifications automatically. Matt holds a B.S. in Business Administration focused in Management Information Systems/Finance from University of Maine, and is currently pursuing a M.S. in Heath Informatics from University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston.

Laura Maisel is Secretary of ZyDoc and has been with the company since its inception in 1993. Her responsibilities include company legal affairs, HIPAA compliance, press relations, and supervision of legal, Spanish and law enforcement transcription operations. She received her B.A. in English from Barnard College of Columbia University in 1974, her M.S.J. from Medill School of Journalism, Northwestern University in 1975, and her J.D. from St. John’s University School of Law in 1978.
For ZyDoc, Adele Field is responsible for marketing communications, advertising, and press relations. Adele's career in publications, marketing communications, and media relations spans more than 25 years in the business and arts sectors. As publications manager at the Directors Guild of America, she facilitated the editing and publishing of a series of trade press titles; oversaw creation of a new DGA proprietary imprint; and supervised production of the annual DGA Directory of Members, along with other special member publications. Subsequently, she served as editor-in-chief of Design/Build Business, an award-winning national trade magazine for the building industry; and Director of Marketing and Public Relations for California State University's multi-venue regional arts center, the Luckman Fine Arts Complex.
Ashish Bhatt, Management Consultant, collaborates on ZyDoc's strategic initiatives in the areas of R&D, marketing, and operations. Ashish is President of Pico Ventures, a fundless sponsor that completes full-company acquisitions and invests in very early-stage start-ups. The firm wholly owns Proven Powersports (an online scooter seller), Next Bridge Advisors (an M&A advisor), and Killer Tux (an online tuxedo rental store). Start-ups in which Pico Ventures has invested are in the areas of health care, e-commerce, finance, and real estate.
After being graduated from Chemical Engineering at Cornell in 1961, Joseph served two years in the First Armored Division, including the advance party in 1962 for the invasion of Cuba in the Russian Missile Crisis. In 1965-1972 Joseph developed durable vinyl siding, and advanced reinforced polypropylene formulations for the appliance and auto industries, notably for GE Appliance Park. Later advanced coatings were the most durable against outdoor degradation, presented with Ford Research at special conference at Cornell in February 1999.
These technical modelling techniques were applied as co-founder of an online DNA sequencing company in 1983, sold to E,G &G Inc in 1986. In 1984 he installed a medical utilization program for Kaiser Permanente using Revelation DBMS, (later sold to Cosmos, then to IBM Analytics). In 1986 working with Dr. Edward Sivak, to effectively monitor patients at the ICU at the Cleveland Clinic, he arranged for the use of software based on the QNX real-time operating system. In 1990 he introduced Donald Simborg and HL-7 to the board of the Cleveland Clinic. In a special conference in 2002 he reported on 1,000 EMR companies who had initially succeeded, and then were bankrupt.
In 2003 he became an advisor to Dr. James Maisel of ZyDoc, and in 2006 advised on licensing of ZyDoc Medical Transcription software to Transcend. For early versions of MediSapien, converting unstructured text into fully coded structured data, accepting dictation or text from transcription vendors, legacy data and EHRs, were introduced to potential partners. Current interest is in 'big data' for health analytics, coordinating with Charles Boicey of Clearsense and his network of early adopters.

A veteran health care executive, Pauline Degenfelder has 33 years of progressive management experience in strategy and business generation for managed care companies. Ms. Degenfelder's immediate past position was as Vice President, Medicare Strategic Accounts, for Coventry Health Care, Inc., a national managed health care company. She previously was in business development for UnitedHealth Group's national nurse practitioner program for nursing home residents; and as the vice president for post-acute services and ancillary services for The MetroHealth System In Cleveland, OH. As principal in AR Associates Services, LLC she is advisor for MediSapien's natural language processing as input to generate SNOMED output including ICD-10 codes. Richard brings significant strategic, financial and marketing expertise to ZyDoc’s board. As CEO, he built RAB Lighting into one of the largest LED lighting companies in the US over 38 years. The fastest growing company in the state of New Jersey for the last 3 years, RAB is headquartered in Northvale, New Jersey with over a million square feet of manufacturing and distribution facilities nationwide. With degrees from Harvard Business School and Brown University, Richard was named “Manufacturer of the Year” by the Electrical Industry and has won over 50 awards from industry groups for marketing, product innovation and service/product quality.
Richard brings ZyDoc expertise in high tech startups as a member of New York Angels, founder of Armonk Angels and as an angel investor in Birchbox Inc. plus many other startups. Richard is a mentor at the NYU Urban Futures Lab and a pro bono consultant to NY area charities with Harvard Business School Community Partners.

John Odden, Architect for big data predictive health analytics
Early health care work includes the design and delivery of the first call center solutions with skill-based routing for Kaiser Permanente. As a partner/VP with First Consulting Group, John developed the solution design and funding model for Patient Safety Institute, which, in 2002, demonstrated successful proof of concept for health information exchange and cross-continuum community data integration. With Stephen Carson, MD he is co-director Collaborative for Universal Health (www.C4UH.org), a 501C3 founded to make open source Health IT breakthroughs accessible to rural and underserved providers John combined the ability of MediSapien to derive essential medical ontologies from clinical notes with MINERVA open-source bulk-data ingestion to define a breakthrough in generating measures and registries for population health management.
