ZyDoc Demonstrates Physician-Friendly Dictation-Based MediSapien Structured Reporting and Analytics for Orthopedic Practices

Washington, DC, May 31, 2014 – ZyDoc, a NY-based medical transcription and informatics company has announced that it will demonstrate its flagship MediSapien technology for dictating and structuring EHR data at the American Association of Orthopaedic Executives Annual Conference, May 31-June 3, 2014. MediSapien offers orthopedists a user-friendly, dictation-based alternative to typing encounter notes into their EHRs, and automates the process of structuring and abstracting the data for use in reporting, billing, and analytics.

“MediSapien enables physicians to literally ‘talk to their EHR’ to document encounters and automatically generate the structured data they need for reporting requirements, such as for accountable care and HITECH mandates, or for orthopedic and other specialized health registries,” states James Maisel, MD, ZyDoc Chairman. “The strength of MediSapien is that it allows clinical documentation, once dictated, to be leveraged for multiple uses, including ICD-10 and other coding terminology verification, query-based reporting, revenue cycle management, health information exchange between providers for care coordination, and analytics across patient populations.”

In a recent NIH-funded research study, using MediSapien to generate EHR data from dictation was shown to be an average of 2.5 times faster than using a keyboard and mouse.

“Because MediSapien “understands” natural language, it is not only a faster method of EHR data insertion than conventional typing,” continues Dr. Maisel, “but it also unlocks important trapped meaning that might otherwise remain hidden as unsearchable, unstructured text. With the richer, more granular level of detail that is often included in a doctor’s nuanced observations, the patient health story is more complete, potentially influencing adjustments in treatment to make a measurable difference in outcome.”

Orthopedic practice executives are invited to stop by ZyDoc’s Booth #6 in the concourse at AAOE 2014 for more information about utilizing MediSapien to solve data structuring challenges and increase physician satisfaction with their EHR interactions. Kevin Ross, ZyDoc VP Sales, will be on hand to offer a brief demonstration of MediSapien for orthopedic practices and schedule post-show in-depth presentations. He may also be reached at 516.509.7309 or kevin.ross@zydoc.com.

ZyDoc will also exhibit at Health DataPalooza 2014, June 1-3, in Washington, DC. For a complete list of upcoming events where ZyDoc will be exhibiting or offering presentations, please visit www.zydoc.com.
